OCT 20 Dr. Eugene Chien’s Broadcast: The world in 2200. IPCC Reports Based on Government Guidelines. Date:2018-10-20
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) advises policy makers on the impact of climate change on the planet. 91 authors and review editors from 40 different countries have collected over 100 manuscripts and 6000 documents to compile the Global Warming 1.5 °C Special Report in mid-October 2018.  The hope is that this report becomes the basis of the for the 24th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP24).

Three groups wrote the report. The first group was responsible for assessing the natural sciences of climate change; the second working group was responsible of determining the impact, adaptation, and vulnerability; and the third group was responsible of assessing climate change mitigation. At the same time, based on previous reports and peer-reviewed studies the risks faced by the planet due to rising temperatures were estimated. The report calls for a change in lifestyle and for national policies to adjust in order to meet new demands.

In addition, there is a forward-looking study by American Scholars William Nordhaus and Paul Romer titled “The Relationship between Climate Change and Economic Development”. The economist’s research is convincing however, proving it, requires evidence, thus, Nordhaus created three models: the carbon cycle model, the climate model, and an economic growth model. Furthermore, he created policy models for countries and leaders to make decisions. Nordhaus’s research has become the current reference for countries to formulate guidelines.
