Ambassador Eugene Chien attends the first Taiwan Circular Economy Awards calling on all sectors to jointly promote the circular economy

The Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, the Center for Green Economy, Taipei Computer Association, Taiwan Smart City Solutions Alliance, and Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, among a coterie of 20 organizations, jointly sponsored the 2019 Taiwan Circular Economy Awards, on Tuesday, March 26, at the Nankang Exhibition Hall, with 52 enterprises participating, and 80 entries competing for recognition, which after a lengthy judging process of several months resulted in selection of 11 enterprises for the Awards.
Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy Chairman, Ambassador Eugene Chien, was invited to attend the Awards’ Opening Ceremony and deliver remarks, in which Ambassador Chien noted that it was with much joy that TAISE was able to collaborate with the Chung-Hua Institution’s exemplary team in hosting the first Taiwan Circular Economy Awards, and all the participating corporations and entries merited a high degree of recognition. Amb. Chien expressed hope that the circular economy will emerge as a lifestyle attitude, and encouraged more enterprises to give though to the circular economy precepts integrating them into business decision making and forming new business models, to not only reduce demands for resources at the source but also create opportunities for profit along the way. Ambassador Chien also represented the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy to sign the 2019 Taiwan Circular Economy Declaration with the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, calling on all sectors to assiduously endeavor to promote Taiwan’s diversified production and consumption in circular economy business models.
